We are pleased to announce that the members of the Nordic Walking Watford recently chose Hertfordshire Mind Network as their Charity of the Year.
So much of what we provide at Nordic Walking Watford is not just about physical health – it is about mental health too. Exercising outdoors in green space, with people who become your friends, has a very powerful and positive effect on our mental wellbeing. Last year we successfully introduced Mindfulness Walks and Tai Chi to our regular program of fitness walks and these walks are always popular, demonstrating the need in all of us to step away from our stressful lifestyles and find some solace in nature.
Nordic Walking Watford has a number of specific activities planned throughout the year to support the work of Hertfordshire Mind Network including a Dawn Chorus walk, car boot cafes, participating in a local half marathon and walking 50k for the Chiltern 50 Challenge in September – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tracys50for50.
Caroline McGoohan, Community Fundraising Manager at Hertfordshire Mind Network says “we are delighted to have been chosen by the members of Nordic Walking Watford as their Charity of the Year. They demonstrate how physical health can have a positive impact on mental health and we look forward to supporting the events they have planned for 2020”.
